At only seventeen years of age Subirachs modelled his first sculptures: his parents' portraits. These are two naturalist heads that are yet to present the characteristic features of the artist. These first steps have a clearly Mediterranian style influence (Maillol, Clarà...). The portrait of his father is made in terracotta, whereas the one of his mother is in plaster.
